The Grand-Am is North America’s number one sports car racing series. Since its foundation in 1999 the championship’s popularity has constantly increased. Highlight of the season is the 24-hour-race of Daytona, which usually serves as the season-opener.
The starting field consists of two different classes: Daytona Prototypes and GT racing cars. Both types race at the same time, but have their own classification. In the traditionally hard-fought GT-class the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup has been by far the most successful race car in the last years against opponents like Audi, BMW, Ferrari, Camaro and Mazda.
Konrad Motorsport has put its focus back on the North American racing series since 2013. At the 24 Hours of Daytona the team impressively demonstrated its strong performance. After good results in the practice sessions, the squad around Franz Konrad claimed the pole-position for the USA’s most popular endurance race.
During the 2013 season Konrad Motorsport does several guest starts in the championship. Among the venues of the Grand-Am-Series are North America’s most historic race tracks, such as Indianapolis, Watkins Glen or Laguna Seca.
